Tungum selected again for train contract Tungum Limited has recently been awarded a contract to supply Tungum Tubing to Stauff UK Limited.This is for use on undercarriage pipe work looms manufactured by Stauff for new rolling stock for Southern Railway. The looms will be fitted on to carriages being built by Bombardier Transportation at its Litchurch Lane plant in Derby. The vehicles will initially be used on the Thameslink route and in the longer term will be cascaded onto other routes. Bombardier will supply Southern with the latest version of their Electrostar family of electrical multiple units, which have used Tungum Tubing for over 15 years. Tungum has been used in transportation applications, including safety systems such as braking pneumatic and hydraulic lines, for many years. Tungum alloy’s corrosion and fatigue resistance is unrivaled for systems such as these.
